In conjunction with the Nokia Lumia 900 project, we also made a modified version of the phone for the US market. As with most phones that come into the US market, local mobile carriers modify the phones slightly from the international version. This model version is for AT&T. We launched the 3D mobile ad for the Nokia Lumia 800 back in December of 2011, in late February of 2012, we were asked to do a 3D model for the next generation Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Smart Phone. The same challenges were present in this model but we ran into some technical issues and had to adapt our modeling process when adding very fine details to the model. Eventually we were able to solve the issues with these fine details and as you can see, the Nokia Lumia 900 has better details like the micro-USB port and other details on the top of the phone. 690 Middlefield old project that has been re-designed to accommodate more floor space for its office type development. The project lies in Mountain View, CA inside the Silicon Valley area. It is close to Highway 237 and is located close to a Caltrain Station. The new design adds a third building, as opposed to the 2-building scheme in the old design. The client, Dostart Development, also asked us to do a study on the building heights due to planning and permitting procedures. Suzhou Village – China...
This project was commissioned by JRDV architects, a firm located in downtown Oakland. One of the partners was a former colleague at KMD architects, he contacted us for this rush job as they had a presentation to the Chinese government. Our task was to capture a certain mood and feeling in our rendering and produce a rendering that embodies a more organic and warmer feel, something that traditional CG images usually lack as they tend to be colder and more mechanical. 55 Grant is another retail project in Union Square that is owned by the same client as 33 Grant, a project we did a few years ago. This retail space is going to be renovated so the client asked us to do a photomontage to show a before and after comparison of the space. Photography of the site has always been tricky as this is a very busy area. Lots of parked cars, pedestrians and delivery trucks frequent the area. Capital One – 3D Mobile Ad...
We were approached by our Mobile 3D ad developer partner to make an ad for the credit card company Capital One. The storyboard was simple at first but evolved as the project progressed. The challenge here was to simulate the physics of paper money falling without the use of any plugins as our final product had to be exported to a .3DS format. In the end our solution was to just hand-animate each bill and make sure that things look like they followed the properties gravity and collision, not so simple when you have a bunch of paper money flying around.
